Arrival and Dismissal

School Hours

School begins promptly at 8:00 AM daily. Students are permitted on campus starting at 7:45 AM. There is no supervision before that time, and students are not permitted to be on campus outside of school hours.  The perimeter fence will remain locked until 7:45 AM.

Dismissal is at 3:00 PM. On Wednesdays, elementary school students are released at noon. Elementary students can enroll in Wednesday Enrichment to experience various classes in performing arts, visual arts, sports, crafts, and academic explorations. These classes are fee-based and dependent upon sufficient enrollment and acceptable behavior. Please have a look at the Wednesday enrichment tab on our website for more information.

Dismissal from Wednesday's enrichment is at 2:00 PM. All middle school students are dismissed at 2:00 PM on Wednesdays.

Arrival Procedures

Students should arrive on campus no earlier than 7:45 AM. Support teachers will be outside the classroom starting at 7:45 AM, ensuring students are directed safely. Parents can escort their children until students are delivered to the classroom door. Please leave walkways clear for students and leave promptly once students reach the classroom. Please do not engage teachers in conversation; their attention must be on the students.

Parents will be notified if students consistently arrive before 7:45 AM, as this is a breach of policy.

No students should be loitering on campus at any time.

Tardy Students

Students are considered tardy starting at 8:05 AM. If your child is tardy, please park in the front parking lot and escort your child to the pedestrian gate for admission to campus.  Bring your child to the office to sign in.

A pattern of tardiness will affect your child’s performance and be disruptive to the other learners and teachers. If parents consistently tardy their children, they will be called in for a Student Support Meeting. Students are responsible for making up any work missed during their free time.

Classes who are participating in field trips will not wait for tardy students.

Dismissal

Dismissal takes place in two locations:

Students may be dismissed in a variety of ways. Parents must indicate how their child will be dismissed every day.

The options are:

Carline: Students picked up by parents in cars will be lined up by the

front circle (K-2) or waiting at the back picnic tables (grades 3-8). Staff members will ensure that students are brought to cars safely. Please practice safe driving procedures whenever you are on or near the premises.

Consult the image above for directions to the back parking lot and dismissal area.

See above for proper car line etiquette in the back lot.

Parent Pick-Up: Some parents prefer to park in designated spots and retrieve their children from the designated areas. Please tell the staff you are taking your child before leaving the area.

Walkers: Parents may grant permission for students in the first eight grades to walk home. The school is only responsible for these students until they leave the property. Please practice what you expect from your child and ensure he/she does not select a different destination. Students will not be released before 3:00 PM.

On inclement weather days, the staff will decide whether it is too dangerous for children to walk home. In those cases, a parent must come to pick up their child. MWR: Military-dependent children sometimes attend after-care at the MWR facility on base. Parents must make prior arrangements with MWR to have their children attend. Any changes to dismissal plans must be made with MWR first. School staff will not alter those arrangements. MWR counselors will pick up MWR students in the Sigsbee courtyard at dismissal time.

EARLY DISMISSAL

Students may only leave school early with parental permission. Parents should email the child’s teacher well in advance so that materials can be gathered. Students will remain in class until an adult arrives in the office. This way, instructional time is not lost if a parent is delayed. Please refrain from removing your child from school early. Parents will be called into a Student Support Meeting if there is a consistent pattern of early dismissal.

Early dismissal is unavailable after 2:45 PM (2:30 PM on inclement weather days).

Leaving Campus

We must know if you are picking up your child. Please ensure you have contacted the teacher and signed your student in the front office before leaving campus with your child. We take the safety of the children very seriously, and the entire staff becomes involved in a missing child procedure if we are unsure of how your child was dismissed.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

During inclement weather days, all elementary students will be brought to the cafeteria for a single-point dismissal. Middle school students will gather in the library/media center. Please bear with us as we safely reunite you with your child.

Remember that our staff members are standing in the rain and getting soaked, so please ensure that dismissal is safe. Please do not try to pass the cars in line or ask your child to meet you in an alternate location.
